The Kootenay List

Your business, your record

Add or claim your business

Already on the List, or missing from it, this is the same form either way. It puts the record in your hands: your words, your hours, your pictures. It is free, it stays free, and it takes about five minutes.

Which of these are you doing?

Everything below is one form: confirm what is right, change what is not. Not sure the business is on here at all? Search its name first, and if nothing comes up, switch to Add my business.

1

Your business

Confirm what is on your listing. Update anything wrong or missing, and leave the right things as they are.

This is what the List shows about Back in Balance Family Chiropractic and Wellness Centre today, filled in below. Change anything that is wrong, clear anything that should not be there, and leave the rest alone. Reference: back-in-balance-family-chiropractic-and-wellness-centre-castlegar

The drawer your listing sits in. Change it if it is filed wrong.

How people reach youAs they should appear on your listing. Clear a box to have it taken off.

Only give an address if there is a place customers actually visit. Working from home or out of a truck is normal here, and your listing works fine without it.

2

What goes on your listing

Fill in what you want shown. Skip anything you would rather not.

This is the one block of your own words on the listing, printed under “In the owner's words” and marked as yours. Say what you actually do, the way a neighbour would say it, because that is what people search for. Up to about 150 words.
Your hoursLeave a day blank if it varies or you would rather not say. Tick Closed for the days you are shut.

Social profilesAll optional. Fill in the ones that are actually used and leave the rest empty. A page name like @thebakery works as well as the full address.

Your logo and photosA logo and up to four photos. Pick them here and they go with the form.
Logo
Photos (0 of 4)Real pictures of your place, your work, or your team. Only send images you have the right to use. No stock photos or AI pictures standing in for the real thing.
Anything on your listing that is wrong or out of date, whether I filed it wrong or it has changed since. Tell me what it should say.

You, and sending it

So I can check the business is yours and write back.

An address at your own website is best. It proves the listing is yours in one step.

Free, and it stays free. Every one gets an answer.

The Kootenay List is run by Brett Faucher of Kootenay Made Digital, Castlegar BC. I use what you send only to check this entry and to reply. There is no mailing list, I never sell the list, and I never share your details. Anything here can be corrected or taken down on request: write to hello@kootenaylist.ca.

What your listing can carry

  • What you actually doIn your words, so the people searching for it find you. The public record often files a business under one vague word. Only you can fix that.
  • Your real hoursHowever you actually work, not a guess.
  • Your own wordsShown as yours, in your voice, marked so nobody mistakes it for mine.
  • Your logo and up to four photosOpenable full size, so a poster or a menu can actually be read.
  • A booking or quote linkStraight to your own booking page or contact form.
  • The area you serveFor anyone who travels to the job.
  • Your social profilesFacebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, linked straight from your listing. Whatever you confirm replaces what the List found on its own.
  • The claimed markSo neighbours know the record is yours and kept current.

What the List will never do

  • Charge youNot for the listing, not for the claim, not for a better position. There is nothing to buy.
  • Sell your detailsThe list is not for sale and never will be.
  • Spam youNo mailing list exists. I reply to you, and that is all.
  • Rank by who paidNobody pays, so nothing is sorted by money. Ever.
  • Lock you inAsk and your listing is corrected or removed. Same day where I can.
  • Track your customersNo trackers, no pop-ups, no data sold to anyone.

How it goes

  1. 01You fill this inEverything is optional except your name, your email, and which business it is.
  2. 02I check itI make sure the business is yours, or that a new one is real and reachable. An email from your own website settles it fastest.
  3. 03Your listing changesUsually within a week, and I write back to tell you it is done.
