What the List is
The Kootenay List is an informational register of businesses in the Kootenays, operated by Kootenay Made Digital of Castlegar BC. It is a free public resource. Using the site means you accept these terms.
Accuracy is best-effort
Every entry is traced to a public source and stamped with the date it was last seen there, and we work hard to keep the record current. Even so, the information is provided for general reference only. Businesses change hours, move, and close between checks. Always confirm the important things, like hours or an address, directly with the business before you rely on them.
No warranty
The List is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that any listing is complete, current, or error-free, and we are not liable for decisions made based on the information here. Where an entry has gone stale, the site says so rather than pretending otherwise.
Links to other sites
Listings link out to the businesses' own websites and other third-party sites. Those sites are not ours, we do not control them, and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or their own privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Fair use
You are welcome to browse, link to, and share the List. You may not scrape or bulk-copy the register to rebuild a competing directory, and you may not use it to send unsolicited commercial email. The record is kept for residents, not for harvesting.
The open extract
Entries derived from OpenStreetMap are published on the sources page as a downloadable extract under the Open Database License, the same license OpenStreetMap uses. That extract is the one part of the register offered for reuse, on ODbL's own terms. The rest of the register, and the site itself, stay covered by the fair-use rule above.
Corrections, removal, and contact
If you run a business listed here, you can ask for a correction or ask to be removed entirely, and we will do it. Write to hello@kootenaylist.ca. How we handle personal information is set out in the privacy page. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada, and they may change as the List grows; the date above shows when they were last updated.
