What the List is
The Kootenay List is a public list of businesses in the Kootenays, published for information. It is run by Kootenay Made Digital, my web studio in Castlegar BC. It is free for anyone to use. By using the site, you accept these terms.
How accurate the List is
Every listing shows where it came from and a date. That is the day I last checked it, or the day its owner sent it in. I work hard to keep it current. Even so, the information here is for general reference only. Businesses change hours, move, and close between checks. Before you rely on something important, like hours or an address, confirm it with the business itself.
No guarantees
The List is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. I do not guarantee that any listing is complete, current, or error-free. I am not liable for decisions made based on the information here. If a listing is overdue for a check, the site says so.
Links to other sites
Listings link to the businesses' own websites and to other sites I do not run. I do not control those sites. I am not responsible for what is on them, whether it is right, or how they handle your privacy. A link is not an endorsement.
Fair use
You are welcome to browse, link to, and share the List. You may not scrape it or copy it in bulk to rebuild it as a competing directory. You may not use it to send unsolicited commercial email. I keep the List for the people who live here.
The OpenStreetMap download
Listings that come from OpenStreetMap are on the sources page as a file you can download. That file is under the Open Database License, the same licence OpenStreetMap uses. It is the one part of the List you may reuse, on the ODbL's own terms. The rest of the List, and the site itself, are covered by the fair use rule above.
Corrections, removal, and contact
If you run a business listed here, you can ask for a correction or ask to be removed entirely, and I will do it. Write to hello@kootenaylist.ca. The privacy page explains how I handle personal information. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. They may change as the List grows. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
