Where to find them

Most of the region's museums & galleries are in Nelson, Castlegar and Kaslo. In all, they are in 23 towns. Most of them have their own website, and the links below take you straight there.

Volunteers keep most of these doors open. That shows in two ways. Hours shrink to weekends once fall comes, and the phone often goes to an answering machine. They are spread wider than you might expect, because nearly every old townsite kept its mining museum or small gallery going. Check the season before you drive out. Many stay shut until spring.
