Where to find them

Most of the region's butchers & meat are in Creston, Sparwood and Castlegar. In all, they are in 14 towns. About half have their own website. For the rest, the phone number is the best way in.

Cutting and wrapping is the main service here, and it runs on a schedule. You order half a beef ahead of time. Hunters bring in game in the fall. Sausage gets made when the shop has time. Most of these shops skip a website, because you sort things out at the counter. Before you buy a whole animal, ask about freezer space and how long it will take.
